So you’ve finally decided to pop the question, but now you’re not sure how to go about getting all the right details. How do you get the right sized ring? What kind of ring will she like? It can be hard to get everything perfect on your own. Honestly, the best way to shop for an engagement ring that will fit her in every way is to take her along in the process. It’s understandable if you still want to do it on your own to surprise her, however. If that’s your intention, the following is some advice on how to go about getting it right without her knowing your intention ahead of time:
Go Shopping Together
The best way to get an idea of what she likes is to see what kind of jewelry she likes. You can do this by looking at what kind of jewelry she likes to wear every day, but if she doesn’t wear rings that look anything like an engagement ring, you might have a hard time getting the idea of what she likes. Instead, take her shopping and check out some San Diego engagement rings. If you want to try to keep your intentions a secret, make up an excuse to go like you are looking for jewelry for your mother’s birthday or some other likely story. Hint: Check out as many San Diego jewelry stores as possible as they will all carry slightly different styles.

Getting Her Ring Size
You can do this while you’re shopping together by having her try on rings and seeing which size fits her (if you can do this without looking too obvious). Or if you want to be sneakier about it, you can have a trusted accomplice borrow one of her rings that she won’t notice is missing for a day and size it.

Diamonds?
When asking one of the most important questions of your life, another question often comes up. Should I go with the classic diamond or something more unique? There is a plethora of diamonds in San Diego to choose from, but perhaps your intended bride might prefer something a little different. It’s hard to know for sure, but some good things to figure out are whether she prefers classic jewelry and is a more traditional type, or more of a free spirit. If she’s traditional she may prefer a tradition diamond. If she marches to the beat of her own drum, she may like something personal like her own birthstone as a gem, or a particularly favorite color.
The better you know you’re intended bride before purchasing, the better chance you’ll have with getting her a ring she’ll love almost as much as you!
