Must-See Beaches in Mauritius


The popularity of Mauritius, an extremely small Indian Ocean island, as a travel destination can no longer be argued. Whether you are traveling to Mauritius with your partner on a romantic holiday or whether you are going there with your whole family for your August vacation, the exotic island is an ideal choice. With its excellent weather almost all year round and the thrilling number of attractions in Mauritius, the island is indeed a dream destination for people from all over the world.

In spite of all this, the one thing that appeals most to tourists is obviously the Mauritian beaches. Along with its neighbors the Seychelles and the Maldives islands, Mauritius is especially known for its particularly superb collection of beaches. The Trou aux Biches beach

The beach of Trou aux Biches is the first of our list and is also the first beach many tourists actually visit after coming to Mauritius. It is the least beautiful of the three beaches covered in this article, but is still extraordinary compared to most beaches from other countries and island. The Trou aux Biches beach is located on the north western coast of the island and is quite close to the main hotel areas in the north. As such, you will not have to spend much time traveling to get there.

The area around the beach is also a great hang-out. Since the Trou aux Biches is one of the finest beach in Mauritius, the town is very tourist-friendly with tons of shops and clubs for a wonderful lifestyle.

The Flic en Flac beach

As superb as Trou aux Biches is, it is nevertheless far behind Flic en Flac, which is literally the most popular beach in Mauritius. A single trip to Flic en Flac will no doubt prove this, as you will always find the island packed with people, some of whom will even camp near the beach for three or four days. In fact, you will probably actually find people there even if you go there when the weather is slightly worse.

Flic en Flic is also known for its great variety of pubs, such as the Shooters, a leading Mauritius restaurant famed for its themed nights. A large number of villas and bungalows exist in the town to make it a truly formidable sight.

Pereybere

It is often said that going to Mauritius but not visiting the Pereybere beach means you did not truly travel to Mauritius. Pereybere is without doubt the finest beach in Mauritius and rivals in beauty those of even the Seychelles. It is however fairly small and always feels crammed with people due to its unfortunately small size. Its lagoon is nevertheless unrivalled in Mauritius with a deep blue crystal clear sea that everybody finds very hard to resist.

Another thing you need to keep in mind about Pereybere is that it is the single most visited town by tourists in Mauritius. As such, whatever you are looking for in terms of entertainment, you will find it there.
